Great picture. I've always wondered where the red-white-blue sign up at barber shops comes from. It seems to be a worldwide standard sign. I remember them from my childhood (in Belgium) - when the shop was open, the sign was lighted and spinning...

Thank you. This one no longer spins, and I think it's a women's "beauty" shop, as well.

Here's a link that talks about the history of the barber pole. Quite interesting, and it does appear to be universal.
